The Shetland Careers Fair took place on Tuesday 3 October 2023, from 4pm to 8pm at Bowls Hall, Clickimin Leisure Complex, Lerwick, ZE1 0PJ and what a great event it was!
Organised by Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) Shetland, in partnership with Skills Development Scotland and UHI Shetland, the event is open to people of all ages to come along to explore the exciting careers and opportunities available now in Shetland and beyond.
There are over 50 exhibitors attending including local and national employers, universities, and the Armed Forces, so there’s something for everyone!
Nina Hogmo, DYW Shetland Project Manager, said: “The world of work is constantly changing and having the opportunity to speak directly to employers and universities is vital to understand the variety of pathways and routes into training and employment. The Shetland Careers Fair provides an excellent chance to speak to these exhibitors, so we encourage everyone to come along on October 3rd”.
Marie Leask, SDS Shetland Team Leader, said: “We’re absolutely delighted that the Shetland Careers Fair is back for 2023 as it provides an excellent opportunity for the people of Shetland to find out about the opportunities that are out there, and the routes to take to reach them”.
Kevin Briggs, Head of Student Experience, UHI Shetland, said: “This is a great chance for the people of Shetland to come and meet with a range of universities to find out about the breadth of opportunities that are available for studying locally and beyond. For those looking to enter employment, there will be a wealth of information and stands available so that the community has the chance to find out what is involved in different career pathways”.
